My dear Miss Fouts: --
The sewing and dressmaking are so important a part of our plans for the winter that I am afraid we could not have any one take the position who was not trained on that side as well.
The art classes are doing such very good designing that we hope to use that material more and more in our sewing classes and are very anxious that there should be good instruction not only in plain sewing but in teaching the standard embroidery stitches as well.
Won’t you, however, come to see us if you are in Chicago in August, and I am sure you will want to see Miss Lund and the Country Club. Perhaps something else will have developed by that time.
Faithfully yours,
Jane Addams. [signed]
