My dear Miss Addams.

I very much appreciate your kind letter with its good wishes and expression of confidence in me. I feel somewhat appalled at the task before me, but I am keenly interested and I hope I shall be able to put into the work some of the energy and enthusiasm it needs. I am only sorry that I cannot give all of my time to it. This part time arrangement may not work out, but we will try it and see.
