BROWN'S HOTEL,
LONDON, W.1.
(DOVER ST & ALBERMARLE ST)
10/18/20.
My dear Miss Addams;
This is just a note to tell you that the cries of distress from the Continent & most of all Vienna have become so overwhelming that I am going to modify my plans so as to get to both Berlin & Vienna before I return. Not that I can help any here, but If I go I can possibly be of more use when I return home. It is imperative if hundreds of thousands of people are not to freeze & starve this winter that America's supply of [page 2] relief shall not diminish, but be increased. Already England has put an embargo on coal exports because of the strike & Vienna freezing & her factories idle.
Hastily,
James G McDonald.
P.S. I am writing Miss Merriman detailed reports almost daily of my observations here. I hope she will pass on to you such items as might be of especial interest to you.
