My dear Mr. Thomas:

I am enclosing a check for five dollars from

Mrs. Moses L. Purvin
6512 Kenwood Ave.
Chicago

And one for a similar amount from the All Soul's Sunday School sent by

Miss Edith Floyd Jones
Abraham Lincoln Center
700 Oakwood Blvd.
Chicago.

Both are for the German children.

I had a very pleasant surprise yesterday when Mr. and Mrs. Smedley of Philadelphia and Josh Bailey's brother came to the House. We found that we had many mutual acquaintances and I am sure it was very pleasant for me to be with REAL Friends. The hyms and sermons of the Middle West do not appeal to me at all.

Sincerely yours,

William F. Byron [signed]
