Biographical Text

Florence Griswold Buckstaff was a women's rights activist and teacher. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, and her graduate degree from Cambridge, writing a thesis on married women's property rights. Buckstaff read papers before various women's clubs and worked with Dr. Ely's classes at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She wanted to start a settlement in Oshkosh, WI, but it never came about. Buckstaff died in 1948.

Buckstaff married George Angus Buckstaff in 1888. They had three children.
