Biographical Text

Issac Newton Seligman was the founder of the firm J & W Seligman & Company with his six brothers, who served as financial agents of the United States Navy Department. He was also one of the founders of the Child Labor Association, the City and Suburban Homes Company, and the Institute of Musical Art. Seligman was active in almost every social activist group in New York.

Seligman married Guta Loeb in 1883. Seligman died in 1917.
