HOTEL WINDSOR

My dear Mrs Karsten

We are leaving Florida today and our next stop is at Summerville South Carolina. Our address there is

Pine Forest Inn, Summerville S. Car.

We are planning to be in Washington April 10th arriving there Monday evening the 9th and leaving the 11th. I have written Mrs Post of this and have suggested that we have a Conference of as many members of the board of the W.P.P. as can conveniently come. [page 2]

The U.S.A. situation has changed so rapidly since our last meeting that I think a conference would be a great comfort to us. I could be in Washington to have such a Conference the 7th, Saturday, if that would be better for the others, [although] Easter Sunday is apt to find people with other plans.

Will you please call a meeting -- (a conference meeting) for the 10th at the Hotel Raleigh in Washington making it clear that the board members are not expected to make an extraordinary effort to come. [page 3]

Will you ask them to telegraph you if they [much] prefer the 7th but if you do not hear the 10th will stand. I do not want to [overdo] meetings but in a crisis like this, the very fact that the women are organized should be utilized, we may be a little [offset] to the other type of organization.

Will you please show this letter to Mrs Thomas. I write you as being more certainly in Chicago. I hope she will be in Washington by the tenth.

Please don't [overdo], and believe me devotedly yours Jane Addams
