My dear Mrs. Pfannebecker:
Your letter of recent date to Miss Jane Addams has been forwarded to this office for reply. We appreciate your offer to be of assistance in communicating with your relatives in Germany, but realize that such a time the effort would be practically futile.
Mr. Ford did not try to [make?] any personal in any country, and [merely] went with an American delegation to see what could be done about holding a Neutral Conference.
Thanking you for your good wishes and your kind intent, I am
Sincerely yours,
Assistant Secretary.
Mrs. Margaret [Pfannebecker,]
[Sigourney], Iowa.
