My dear Alice

It is very nice to know that you are coming for the Spring vacation--and perhaps it will be well have Marcet postpone her theatre <going> until the Spring vacation [although] I am sorry to have her miss this old morality play of "Everyman" which is being given with great artistic ability and scholarship--it still goes on for ten days. Laura has been having a wretched cold for a week and we are both depressed about Weber. Dr Church went down to see him last week and seemed more hopeless about the case than he had ever admitted before. It is awfully hard for Laura.
