Biographical Text

Saint Cecilia was a Roman woman who lived in the second century. Despite a vow of virginity, she was married to Valerian, a Roman nobleman who she convinced to convert to Christianity. Cecilia, her husband and his brother were martyred for their Christian faith and people began celebrating her feast day, November 22 in the fourth century. Cecilia is the patron saint of music.
