My dear Alice

A telegram came last evening announcing the arrival of Esther's seven pound daughter. I hoped for a letter today but none has come as yet.

Laura has been there for ten days as the Dr was quite certain that the baby would be born last week, as the very last of the time Charlie developed an inflammation of the bowels and had to be taken to the hospital. He was fortunately able to be out before the baby came but is still on the invalid list. He is really not a strong fellow. Altogether they have had a pretty hard time.

With much love to Marcet always your loving sister.
