Dear Lady
I am sending you this letter from Mr Bryan [although] it contains old news now, to testify that I made an effort. A letter from the President says "my heart is for peace and I wish we were dealing with those who <would> not make it impossible for us".
I feel very much out of things up here but if I can be of any use, you must command me. I am much better this week. Always affectionately yours
