(Executive Committee -- Chicago Peace Society)

Chicago,
February 28, 1916.
Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
800 S. Halsted Street,
Chicago, Ill.

My dear Miss Addams:

At the meeting of the Executive Committee held last Thursday, February 24th, at the Union League Club, Mr. Harold G. Townsend was elected Secretary of the Chicago Peace Society; and subsequently, on Friday, at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the American Peace Society held in Washington, he was chosen Director of the Central West Department. It seems to me well to advise the members of the Executive Committee and to enclose for the information of each one of them some brief biographical data of Mr. Townsend, so that, prior to meeting him, they may feel that they know something of him.

The arrangement is that Mr. Townsend begins his service as Secretary of our Society March 1, 1916, and as Director of the Central West Department of the American Peace Society April 1, 1916.

May I not take this first opportunity to bespeak for Mr. Townsend the heartiest [cooperation] of the Executive Committee and all members of the Society?

Very sincerely yours,

President.

Encl.
