Biographical Text

David Blaustein was born in Russia but was educated in Hebrew and rabbinical studies in Prussia. He immigrated to the United States in 1886, opening a private school in Boston. Blaustein was heavily involved with assisting immigrants; he worked with the Sheltering Home for Immigrants in Boston. Blaustein is best known for his work in New York and Chicago with Educational Alliance, a group which sought to educate and Americanize immigrant youth. Blaustein died in 1912.

Blaustein married Miriam Umstadter in 1911.
