CHICAGO

My dear Mrs Blaine

The wonderful box of flowers came this morning when we were at breakfast. We had all had two very busy days and nights and were rather battered and worn. Nothing I think could have cheered us so much as the contents of that box, and the other residents are quite as grateful as myself, which is really a  large statement.

Some of the advanced boys in the shop have lately been venturing upon silver work and I am sending [page 2] you a box they have made which has received some praise from one or two artists. It ought to be much bigger to contain all the gratitude and affection which I should like to put into it. But perhaps you will know what it "represents" to use kindergarten lingo. With every possible good wish for the New Year.

I am Always affectionately yours Jane Addams
