On Tuesday afternoon, July 27th, Miss Addams made a confidential report on her European mission to a number of people especially invited for that purpose. At that meeting, which was held in the South Parlor of the Auditorium Hotel, the motion was passed that a committee of five members from the Woman's Peace Party and five from the Chicago Peace Society be appointed by Miss Addams, to consult with her as to possible steps that might be taken in the way of securing action looking to the realization of the recommendations made by her, by Norman Angell and by a New York Group that had previously met with her. This New York Group, it may be noted in passing, consisted of Messrs. Arnstein, Edward T. Devine, Hamilton Holt, Prof. Wm. I. Hull, Lovejoy, Dean George W. Kirchwey, Dr. Frederick Lynch, Frankfurter, George Foster Peabody, Paul Kellogg, Prof. Krehbiel, L. Hollingsworth [Wood], Norman Angell, Dr. John Mez, Mrs. Crystal Benedict, Mrs. Frank Cothren, Mrs. Amos Pinchot, Mrs. Fannie Fern Andrews, Miss Mary Chamberlain, Miss Lillian Wald and Miss Evelyn Newman.

The Chicago committee appointed by Miss Addams met on Friday noon, July 30, and voted to call a somewhat larger meeting, to which additional persons were to be invited, at an early date. It also voted to appoint a smaller committee to draft certain resolutions that might serve as a basis for the next discussion.

This next meeting is to be held at Hull House on Wednesday evening, August 4th at seven thirty o'clock, and while the subcommittee appointed has not yet had an opportunity to meet, its work will be based upon the suggestions embodied in the two resolutions herewith enclosed.

In behalf of Miss Addams and the committee, may I not extend an invitation to you to take part in that meeting? It is hoped that every participant may give thought to these resolutions, so that the discussions on next Wednesday evening may be as fruitful as possible and may lead to definite results.
