December 15th, 1929.

My dear Mr. [Pietsch]:

I am quite in despair concerning the Hull-House Players. They know, of course that you started the Dramatics at Hull-House but they claim that it was then known as Hull-House Dramatic Association but that Mrs. Pelham started the Hull-House Players. The whole thinking in their minds seeks to be very sentimentally associated with their trip to Ireland and their comradeship with the Irish Players.

Mrs. William Byron is the Business Manager and is abroad this winter. She promised me that the words "founded by" would not be used again, but they are so devoted to Mrs. Pelham that their sentiment seems to overwhelm their promises. No one in the House has anything, whatever, to do with their printing. We have five or six other dramatic clubs in the House such as the Marionettes, Mignonettes, etc. which were founded by different people.

Would you be willing to come some evening to ↑talk to↓ them about it and see what you could do, for I seem to be helpless in the matter?

In a history of the Hull-House Theatre and growth of dramatics, you would, of course appear as one of our earliest directors, but the present situation seems to be one of not historical fact, but an overwhelming devotion to a director.

May I hear from you about coming one evening in January?

Faithfully yours,
