Dear Miss Addams,

The balance sheet has been sent to you and should have been accompanied by a covering letter. I hope you will find it comprehensible. It will show you that we are very low in funds, in fact we have hardly enough money to pay the salaries for January and when we have done so we shall not have a penny and we have several large printing bills to pay. I am however hoping from day to day to receive your monthly check and there are also sums of $800 due to us from the American Fund and also about $100 from the American Section for postage of "Pax" so that if these sums come in shortly we shall be all right. I have been hoping to hear something about the legacy but so far nothing has been heard. I am delighted that Miss Balch is coming over for our Executive meeting in March. In view of the request of four or five sections the meeting will be here in Geneva on March [20th] and the alterations in the Constitution proposed by the British Sections will be discussed with a view to their being referred to the sections for further considerations and the final recommendations for the Congress by the next international Executive. I do hope we shall be able to come to a modus vivendi.

I have had an interesting tour visiting the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish Sections and the German groups in Hamburg, Bremen and Frankfurt. I do hope that you are keeping well and that we shall have the pleasure of seeing you in Europe next year. Please give my love to Miss Mary Smith. I very often think of you both with great affection.

Yours affectionately,

Mary Sheepshanks [signed]
