Dear Miss [Addams]; --
Last Sunday as I was leading my class of middle aged ladies in discussion one of our leading women in [thought] said "I had [page 2] always held Miss Jane [Addams], in my mind, as one of our finest type of womanhood, but I understand she is a Radical (or Red) and she believes in sexual relations between any man and any woman." Now this woman has, I know, read some terribly erroneous statements, but it had nevertheless shocked her -- will you [page 3] please, being a citizen of such prominence and influence, make to me a statement that that I may correct the statement made last Sunday.
I believe your ideals are safe and sane, but I could say nothing as I had read nothing.
As pastor's wife I feel that information [page 4] of such kind is so helpful to the church, coming "first handed."
In these days of propaganda one must have only "first handed" statements to immediately stop much harm.
