Dear Miss Addams,
With joy I heard of Emily Balch's visit to you. It will be such a happiness to you both. I often think that in the stress of her life Emily has found wonderful friends & friendships & yours is one of the greatest. For myself I want to send you my grateful affection, & all [page 2] good wishes for the coming year & years. You manage yourself & mistress body, your servant, so wonderfully that I have great confidence in your future. I am sorry you should have any illness at any time however.
I think one half of my faith at least, comes from faith in the high moral qualities of persons whom I venerate. Among these you stand second to none. I thank you for the part you give me of my faith in justice & in eternal love. This requires no answer.
Helen Cheever.
