NATIONAL FEDERATION OF SETTLEMENTS
Nov. 12, 1926.
Dear Miss Addams:
I am most sorry to hear that you have been ill. I trust that you are not having a painfully unhappy time. I wish there was something I might do to lighten your discomfort.
Did you happen to see a copy of Mrs. Simkhovitch's statement about the conference? I enclose one in case you might have missed it.
I shall be most happy to have anything you may be good enough to send me about the Barnett Memorial Fellowship, and I know that everyone will rejoice at a message from your hand.
Faithfully yours,
Albert Kennedy [signed]
↑I am so sorry about the fresh attack of Waritis that seems to have broken out -- & I am cheered by the "World" Editorial of today. I hope that you have developed an immunity to this sort of thing; and some of us are able [page 2] to ourselves be comfortable on the theory that you must have done so. Occasionally I wonder & think of the story of the old fish wife, who, when remonstrated with for skinning eels alive, said that they had become accustomed to it.
At any rate your enemies are not strengthened by such foolish attacks, and your friends are confirmed and made much more actively loyal.↓
