Dear Miss Addams:
I should be very grateful indeed if you would furnish me with the names of any people interested in settlements in Chicago who might take an interest in the memorial endowment in honor of Mr. Woods. I know, of course, that you do not feel sanguine about interesting very many Chicago people in an enterprise which to them must seem to have to do chiefly with the East. There may, however, be a few persons interested in research and experiment in local community organization to whom the name and work of Mr. Woods will be familiar or can be made so.
I hate to burden you with this kind of a request on the very eve of your departure for Europe. Mr. Stackpole, the chairman of the committee, however, is anxious to terminate the campaign in the near future.
