Helen Cheever to Jane Addams, November 15, 1921

My dear Miss Addams,

I hope all goes well with you. I told Emily ↑Balch↓ I could give if necessary up to $300 to help finance a paid secretary in Washington these next months. She says she wrote to you. If not needed I should save this money to ↑help to↓ make up the International budget, which I understand you accomplished till March but not till July 1923.

I hear the Chinese girl Miss Yung is speaking very [page 2] ably at peace & disarmament meetings here.

I think the money given her by me I had better deal with personally. My idea is to ask her to give or raise that amount or what she can of & give it to the International office as a gift from the Chinese. She wrote me most gratefully of her experience abroad.

Yours always with great regard & affection

Helen Cheever

↑Emily is seeming very tired.↓
