Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
Chicago, Illinois.

My dear Miss Addams:

About a week ago I sent down to you at the Lafayette Hotel copies of the cables we sent on to Lloyd George and [Éamonn] De Valera, together with a statement which we gave to the press later. Evidently the Hotel neglected to forward these to you, so I am enclosing copies now for your perusal.

The cable to De Valera was embodied in one to James Douglas with instructions to him to use it at his discretion. I have a cable from him under date of December 16th in which he says: "Message Delivered Not Published at Present." So that really nothing has been done over your name or ours as yet. ↑The statement was given to the papers but was only carried by the Times.↓

Very truly.
