My dear Mrs Thomas:
We found that Miss Rose Standish Nichols as a member of the Standing Committee had already gone so far in securing two Japanese students that is seems much better to all of us that she should proceed with her undertaking. I am enclosing the list with whom she is in communication, but I am also sending her your letter, suggesting that we might also secure Miss Kohashi. I really think it is too late to try to get anyone directly now. I am writing to Miss Nichols in order that there may be no other complications, and hope very much that we can secure Miss Kohashi. May I write you later how it comes out, and thank you for what you have done in the matter.
Faithfully yours,
Jane Addams. [signed]
