Hon. Josephus Daniels
Secretary of the Navy
Washington, D.C.

Dear Sir:

At the suggestion of Lieutenant N. B. Farwell, Senior Member, Board of Sale, Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Illinois, I am writing you in regard to the sale of unused barracks. Hull-House has a Summer Camp about three miles north of the naval station. We are very much in need of more shelter for our boys and should like, if possible, to purchase three of the unused barracks. If we could secure these we could treble our capacity.

As the Camp opens in June we are naturally desirous of securing them as soon as possible and inasmuch as Lieutenant-Commander Farwell is unable to tell us the date when they will be placed on sale we are taking the liberty of writing direct to you.

Faithfully yours,

Jane Addams [signed by secretary]
President of Hull-House
J. B. Riddle [signed]
Boys Club Director
