Louis Paul Lochner to Jane Addams, June 18, 1917

ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
People's Council of America
FOR DEMOCRACY AND PEACE
2 WEST 13th STREET
NEW YORK CITY
June eighteenth
1917

Dear Miss Addams:

I am awfully sorry that you cannot serve on the Organizing Committee, but am very happy nevertheless that you continue to let us use your name in connection with the work as an advisor.

I do hope that you can be in Chicago until July first. It is not without the realm of probabilities that I may go there myself, and for me to come to Chicago without seeing you would be a great disappointment indeed.

It is simply impossible for me to come to Chicago now, as I have been made chairman for the sessions of our Organizing Committee and must stick right here to shape the daily business. But Miss Freeman is certainly well able to take care of things.

With kindest regards,

Sincerely yours,

Louis P. Lochner [signed]
