November 5, 1915.
My Dear Miss Addams:
I have your appreciative note of November 4th, and have forwarded a copy of the same to my sisters.
As regards the balance of $1,000. which we agreed to donate for this purpose and which I understand you anticipate using in furnishing the building, I will state that this is available at any time, and if it would be of assistance for you to have this money in hand now, I can send you my check at any time.
I wish to take this opportunity to express to you the deep sense of obligation which I share with so many thousands of others to you and your associates for the work which you are so ably doing, and it is with a great deal of pleasure that circumstances have placed me in a position that I have been able to assist to the extent that I have done. I am sure that both my sisters join me most heartily in this sentiment.
Most sincerely yours,
Van Rensselaer Lansingh [signed]
