Non-Voting Women
Had a Good Excuse

Miss Jane Addams, head resident of Hull House, was talking suffrage at a tea in Chicago when an "anti" said:

"Look at the so-and-so elections. Only a third of the women voted. How, Miss Addams, do you account for that?"

"Well," said Miss Addams, with a smile, "after all the trouble these women had to get the vote, they are naturally in no hurry to give it to anybody."
