12 WEST WALTON PLACE
My dear Mrs. McCormick
Mrs. Bowen asks [me] to thank you most warmly for your very generous [check] for the wages of the [unemployed] men to whom we are giving work at Hull-House.
Mrs. Bowen would have written herself but she is having a slight operation performed [page 2] today and will be confined to her bed for ten days.
She was greatly relieved to have your [check] and to know that we might employ the men whose need is greatest, through May.
May I thank you on behalf of Miss Addams, too, for so kind and prompt a response to Mrs. Bowen's appeal.
Very sincerely yours
Mary Rozet Smith
for Mrs Bowen
