July Nineteenth 1915
Miss Addams:
About eight years ago I was requested by Mr. Henry Orr to prepare petition for appointment of yourself as guardian of his brother, William Orr, then a minor of about sixteen years. A month ago, desiring to know whether the estate had been closed, I made a search and did not find that any order had been entered therein since your appointment.
Two or three days ago the clerk of the Probate Court caused an unpleasant stir among lawyers and their clients who, as administrators and guardians, have neglected to close estates, and have threatened to publish names of those who have been negligent.
I write this because I believe you have forgotten your having been appointed guardian in this estate; and because I think you will be pleased to have the estate disposed of promptly.
Yours respectfully
Chas. N. French [signed]
