Dear Miss Addams:--

Thanks for your very kind note. I [want] an article from you, and it need not exceed 2000 words if you can do your subject justice in that space. As to the honorarium, I will increase it to $75, if that will be satisfactory.

The topic you mention will suit us as well [page 2] as any other, provided that it can be dealt with in a way to interest the general public. There must be some details, I infer, which while of importance to sociologists would not be suitable to a mixed audience like ours.
