Biographical Text

Carroll Davidson Wright studied law and became a part of the Massachusetts Senate after fighting in the Civil War. During his time in the Senate, he was chief of the Massachusetts Bureau of Statistics of Labor. In 1880, Wright was appointed supervisor of the Massachusetts census. This started his interest in statistics; he later taught statistics Harvard and Clark College. Wright died in 1909.
