Theodore Roosevelt to Jane Addams, April 6, 1911

TACOMA, WASHINGTON,
April 6th 1911.

My dear Miss Addams:

I wish I could accept, but it simply is not possible. When I have finished this trip I want to avoid making a single additional address save the two or three to which I am already committed. I really feel that I have done all that I am called upon to do in the way of talking, all that I can with wisdom do. I have tried to speak for as many of the big movements in which I believe as possible. I greatly regret I cannot do more.

Faithfully yours,

Theodore Roosevelt [signed]

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
800 South Halsted Street,
Chicago, Ill.
