My dear Mr Ely

We were quite distressed over your telegram this morning as the pictures had been sent a week ago yesterday. However we will hope that they have arrived by this time. The position of Sec'y which you wrote me about is very suggestive and I have consulted two people whom it attracts very much but who are too tied down take it. Have you thought of Mrs Bates (Helen Page) who has given up the place at the Philadelphia Settlement? [page 2] There is also a Miss Leggett—a former Unitarian minister whom I imagine might have certain rather [unusual?] qualifications.

The English reviews of the book are all very favorable aren't they?
