My dear Miss Surles:
I had already replied to Miss Detzer’s letter in regard to Miss [Innes’] books, asking her to pay the advance cost. I should like at least one-third of them sent to Chicago and the others kept at the office until we see how well they will sell. Please send a complimentary copy to Mr. Libby, Mr. Duggan, and Hamilton Holt, and to one or two others whom you think would be especially interested.
The notices about the summer school ought of course, to go out as quickly as possible to all the Branches. I am enclosing $5.10 for the freight.
Faithfully yours,
Jane Addams [signed]
