My dear Mrs. Blaine:

For several years you very kindly sent us a contribution of $1000 towards the general expense account of Hull-House.

While we realize that this does not constitute a claim upon your generosity, we should be very grateful if you could give us the same amount this year.

New needs of the neighborhood crowd upon us, while it is difficult to give up any of our established undertakings.
