My dear [Miss] Addams: --
I have just asked my friend, George Dudley Seymour of New Haven, to find time to call at Hull House during the coming week. He leaves for Chicago today on matters of business -- he is a lawyer. He is so much more than a lawyer, and has taken such a notably helpful part in looking for a better-looking New Haven, that we here owe him a good deal. He is, I think, a rare man, And I hope that you can see him.
I cannot easily tell you what satisfaction [page 2] your last volume has given me -- "The Spirit of Youth and the City Streets." It should do much good, and I think that it will.
Very cordially yours,
H. Barrett Learned
To [Miss] Addams,
Hull-House,
Chicago.
