Dear Miss Addams

Just a word of warmest appreciation and thanks for your kind thought at Christmas time and the exquisite etching of the entrance to Hull House. Then in yesterday's mail I received the 1921 Hull House [yearbook]. Thank you so much for it. It answers [page 2] so many questions Mr. Lobingier and I have in mind from time to time regarding the work and activities of Hull House.

We both thought of you as often after learning of the operation you had in Japan and have rejoiced with you in your recovery and hope you are entirely recovered from its effects.

It was such a pleasure to [page 3] have you with us in our home and we shall hope to call on you at Hull House when next we come to the homeland. I enclose a little picture of our veranda with our Christmas poinsettias.

Judge Lobingier joins in very kind regards and best wishes for the new year -- every day of it -- and will you remember us please to Miss Smith.

Faithfully yours,

Ellen B. Lobingier

(Mrs. Charles Sumner)
