My dear Alice

The little visit in Chicago was very successful and the lady went east with some really beautiful clothes. Laura went with her to Philadelphia, it would never have done, I think, to have had her go alone and I hope Marcet will realize that the journeyings will have to be done gently.

How are you, dear, I haven't [page 2] had a letter for a long time. We are having the most shocking [experiences] on the School Board and I have been in a constant state of upheaval all week but will write about that later. I am sure the eastern tour will be very nice for both the [travelers]. Always your loving sister Jane Addams
