Miss Jane Addams,
Hull's Cove,
Maine.
Dear Miss Addams:
I am sorry to say that we slipped up in getting Mr. Byron to undertake the building trades work for us in Chicago -- just why I am still something at a loss to know, but the enclosed correspondence explains as far as I understand it.
On receipt of Mr. Byron's letter of August 10 I turned to Professor Douglas to see if by chance he will be getting back early and could attempt the work for us in September. He replies "no," so I am again writing Mr. Byron asking him if he cannot tackle it in October. I hope so. My reference in the attached note to Mr. Byron in regard to Mr. Grant is in line with a final suggestion made by Mr. Douglas.
You may be interested in the enclosed Australian letter.
Sincerely,
