Miss Jane Addams, President,
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom,
Hull House,
Chicago, Illinois.

Dear Madam:

We received this morning your favor of the 20th enclosing check of your organization on the First National Bank of Chicago for $1,000 sent us for the purpose of opening an account in the name of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom on our books.

Unfortunately, however, the check has been drawn to the order of your organization and has not been endorsed. Therefore we take the liberty of returning it herewith to have the endorsement supplied.

We note that as soon as the account has been opened we are to notify Miss Emily Balch of your Geneva office of the fact and we will be guided accordingly. May we ask whether your Geneva Office is authorized to value against your funds in our hands and if so whether Miss Balch’s signature in their behalf is to be honored?

Please find enclosed signature card on which we will ask you kindly to have placed specimens of the signatures of those in your office who are authorized to sign against funds on deposit, to which the foreign signatures may be added later when practicable.

Very truly yours,

H L Sparks [signed]
