Biographical Text

Jessie Bartlett was the daughter of Emily S. and Leavitt Bartlett. She was a social worker who worked at Denison House in Boston and at the Northwestern University Settlement, as a friendly visitor. In the 1890s she taught "sloyd" at Hull-House, a woodworking technique that was popular in Sweden.
