My dear Sir,

I have been checking up Miss Addams' lecture engagements and find her time in February so fully taken up as so much it quite impossible for her to go Washington the 13th.

She has some out-of-town engagements within a week of that date and a family matter taking her out of the city the 11th, so is compelled to ask you to withdraw her acceptance, which I understand was provisional. 

With her sincere regrets at her inability to take part in the conference.
