January 31, 1922
Dear Miss Addams:
Your further letter of the 30th ↑29↓ came this morning and after reading it I had Mr. Latham on the phone pointing out to him that there was at least one other point in the article which seemed to call for change as a result of this correction. The paragraph at the top of the right-hand column, page 661 as published in our February Graphic, says that "after the declaration of the fourteen points your congratulatory state of mind was short-lived; for almost immediately the President threw you into a state of bewilderment." You thereupon cite an address made on his speaking tour in January 1917. But the declaration of the fourteen points as such was a whole year later -- January 1918. Clearly this calls for further unravelling. I have called it to Mr. Latham's attention.
Sincerely,
