THE MORAINE

HIGHLAND PARK, ILLINOIS

Dear Lady,

I am here with my friend Mary Smith who is threatened with a nervous breakdown and has been ordered out of town. It is up to me to take care of her and I have dropped all sorts of things, for this week and perhaps a month. Mrs Hill said that she could go down to Springfield this week and Anna Nichols is taking hold of the matter, to find some one. I am awfully sorry to seem to be shirking [page 2] but I am sure that I would be of no value as a lobbyist. We are having our own troubles with the Child Labor bill and if I go down for that, I will of course do all I can.

Hastily yours

Jane Addams
