Jane Addams to Helen Fisher Peck, December 11, 1919

My dear Mrs Peck

Mary Smith and I sent some books yesterday to Miss Culver and yourself with our best wishes for a Merry Christmas. We knew all of them except the Henry Adams and we took that on the basis of his elaborate education!

I hope very much that you are both quite well and are having better weather and more coal than we are blessed with here, [although] at Hull-House itself we have no trouble with shortage of coal and have never had a larger attendance at all of our activities; the latter seems to be true of all educational institutions since the war.

Marcet and little Henry are both quite well and the former sent her love to you and Miss Culver in her last letter. With all affection and the greetings of the Season to you both from Mary and myself, I am

Devotedly yours

Jane Addams [signed]
