Dear Miss Addams:
I have been away most of the time and only got home for the holidays and I take this occasion to enclose my check for $100.
I cannot resist saying that you are the most persuasive collector and at the same time the most modest one that I have ever done business with. In short, you are a genius.
I cannot answer your question about the League without filling up so many pages that it would require the remainder of the year to do it. I would like to have a talk with you, however, because I have devoted a large part of my time, not so much here as in Washington and New York, to this subject, especially the past few months. I attended perhaps all of the crises in the Senate. I suppose you are busy with the industrial conference but when you are at leisure in the next few days, I would like to make an appointment with you.
