Jane Addams to Graham Taylor, June 6, 1916

June 6, 1916.

My dear Dr. Taylor: --

The Woman’s Peace Party has been quite active with the plans outlined in Miss Strong’s letter. I had never associated them with her but largely with Walter Fuller who is here now helping push them. I will ask Mrs. [Karsten] to write you about them. It might be a very imposing and impressive day.

I felt very sympathetic with your position the other day in regard to the Parade. One of the hardest things about my position for instance is that I seem to stand aside not only from a community demonstration but from old friends and comrades. We have failed some way to make clear our position but it is possible that, too, is inevitable just now.

Faithfully yours,

Jane Addams [signed]
