Biographical Text

Upton Sinclair was an early 20th century author. Sinclair's first serious novel, The Jungle, shone a light on the meatpacking district of Chicago. Instead of draw attention to the poverty of the area, his novel instead helped to pass the first Pure Food and Drug laws. Some other famous works of his include Oil! and Boston. Sinclair died in 1968.
